Heading out last night for a glamourous social with dancing people I ealised that I dont actually have many posh tops, so I have decided that this is my next task, to make myself some posher tops.
So here is some inspiration I have taken from pinterest.

What a crazy week...

This week has been one of my craziest recently.
Sunday I trained for a couple of hours in the evening then caught up with one of my friends from back when I started Uni (over 5 years ago!) who is back in town (and more importantly not working every waking moment of the day!).
Monday I trained and helped out at the beginners lesson.
Tuesday more training.
Wednesday: during the afternoon I made a skirt for one of the girls to wear for the competition. We had a 2 hour lesson in the evening and I decided that I was not punishing myself enough at the competition and so would add an extra dance to my load. I agreed to dance rumba with one of our beginner girls and so we both had to learn a whole new dance and routine!
Thursday a few hours practice today a 4hour stint in the library with horrendous physics text books and then caught up with friends again.
Friday, the night before the competition! A 6 hour slog in the library a 4 hour practice session then home to sort out everything for the big day!

Saturday, The big day, arriving at Uni  bit before 8:30 to find the room we are using half full of bales of straw!! Apparently there had been a barn dance there the night before and it hadnt been cleaned before we got our hand on it. A slight shock to the system but thankfully was rectified before the competition was supposed to start, but not until after one of the other Uni's had arrived, much to their confusion ...

Here are a few photos of my and my partner, they are not very good quality as I do not have the originals at the moment and anyone who has taken more than a few photos knows how hard it is to take photos inside of fast moving people :p
My Latin skirt getting some proper use!

The skirt my partner is wearing I also made :D

Nice to find a photo where I look Like I'm enjoying myself not just concentrating hard!

An idea of how much make up and hair spray we had on, you an see my eye shadow on this one :p

Our wonderful team. For the team match at the end everyone gets to put on the proper professional dresses and dance for the Uni, it produces a pretty photo like this at the end!
Sunday, a day off I hear you suggest... Not a chance :p I went sailing...
I was supposed to be going racing but as we were setting up for the start disaster struck and the mainsail halyard snapped and stopped all thought of sailing for the rest of the day. So a 6:30 start on Sunday to see all the other boats start the race, not too bad I suppose :p

Motivation

Recently I have been struggling with motivation a little bit. There is so much inspiration out there That some times I feel swamped by it all and dot know what to do for myself.
We all want to make amazing new things but I am finding that searching blogs and pinterest has lead to me thinking that everything interesting has already been done.

I do love these mediums for inspiration but sometimes they can make me feel like everyone else is amazing and I have no creative talent at all. Which isn't true for any of us.

How to keep the motivation going... Now this is a question that I am contemplating a lot at the moment.
There are the common ones like:

1) Tidying your crafting space up
2) Rearranging said space
3) If you are in to clothing transformations etc, cleaning out the closet of things that you don't wear any more can spark inspiration.
4) Look through magazines for things you can replicate at a much reduced cost  (always satisfying)
5) Try to learn a different skill such as knitting or crochet, or turn your hand to painting or drawing. (It doesn't have to be amazing, this is just for you)

I actually made something I saw on Pinterest!

I spend a lot of time on Pintrest at the moment. Everyone said how addictive it was from the beginning but I hadn't realised just how addictive it really was! That is until now.

But I have started making some of the things that I have pinned:

I attempted this using an old orange tshirt of mine, I  looks lovely but is not the most wearable thing in the world at the moment as it has a tendancy not to stay up and slips down. I might have to elasticate the neckline to keep it in place. We will see how it goes:

I have tried making boot socks out of old jumpers before this tutorial appeared on my Pinterest, but I love her descriptions of how to embellish them.
I have had trouble with this as the sleeves of the jumper I got are not wide enough to go around my calves so I had to get another jumper which had puffy bottoms to the sleeves and these work nicely.

These two versions of this skirt have caught my eye lately and one evening I decided that I NEEDED one of these and sat down at the sowing machine, voila a few hours I had my own version of this which made me very happy :D
Mine is slightly different but done  with the same principle. Now that autumn is here and I get to wear chunky tights and boot socks I have been wearing this out a lot.
Photos and details of how to change the tutorial to come soon.

Happy Birthday...

Today is Nikki's 21st Birthday. It is surprising how fast everything is going. I remember celebrating her 18th here in Southampton before she had even started Uni, as it happens we are going to the same pub this evening because it has turned out to be one of her favourites!

I will post more here later about what she got and how the evening went. I have made myself a head band today which  I plan to wear this evening, I am also planning on wearing my new skirt and home made leg warmers... Coming to think about it, I wonder if I might be able to go in a compleatly home made outfit this evening.

Right... That is my challenge. Wish me luck.

I will be back to you tomorrow with how I managed.

Pinterest food inspiration

I have a small addiction to pinterest at the moment.
But im going to maintain that it is manageable, and even go as far as to say it is useful.

Recently I have had a craving for ranch dressing and lo and behold a lovely recipe for Ranch Dressing came up on my Pinterest and oh yummm is it good!

I went out and got some of the stuff to make this almost straight after reading the recipe and made it as soon as I got back from the shops. I shamefully have to admit to tasting it on a piece of crusty roll and then eating the rest of the roll dipped in dressing :o

I am also inspired by this pin about freezer meals. We do do them here but not to the same extent as this lady! Although Im not sure our freezer is big enough to allow us to store the same amount of meals as she does I might just have to take a leaf out of her book and start making some meals in advance.

Before I blogged, Pink Top ...

Inspired by a post in See Kate Sew about before she blogged I have decided to show a few things that me and Nikki made before starting this blog.

The first item on the list is a Tie neck top:

Lovingly made and modelled by my super skinny sister!
